New facility adds 50 thousand tons to company’s annual production capacity.

Zamil Steel Towers & Galvanizing (T&G) Division, a sector business of Zamil Industrial Investment Company “Zamil Industrial”, announced that it has begun trial production operations at the company’s new galvanizing plant in Dammam Second Industrial City. The new plant is expected to maintain a production capacity of 50 thousand tons per year, increasing the annual galvanizing capacity of Zamil Steel to 75 thousand tons.

The total investment in the new plant is SAR 40 million (USD 10.7 million). The new facility is equipped with the latest machinery and advanced technologies, and is on track to become one of the major state-of-the-art factories in the Middle East. It features a length of galvanizing basin measuring15.5 meters long, 1.50 meters wide, and 3.2 meters in depth. The plant’s high-efficiency production will boost the company’s status among its competitors in the field of galvanized steel operations, providing additional products that meet and exceed international quality control standards.

“The beginning of operations at this factory represents the company's efforts to expand manufacturing capabilities and to keep pace with the increasing local and international demand for galvanized steel products. Increased production capacity empowers our company to operate with enhanced competitiveness in global markets – especially those that specialize in manufacturing and galvanizing transmissions and telecom towers,” states Mohammed Al Shallali, General Manager of Zamil Steel T&G Division.

The new plant has been designed with particular attention to all aspects of security, safety, and consideration of environmental concerns. The building, process equipment and the facility site as a whole was both designed and constructed to meet or exceed compliance levels as set forth by international environmental organizations with regard to manufacturing. All issues regarding gases, vapors and other types of pollution resulting from the process of galvanization have been resolved in the planning stages using state of the art technological solutions and built into the facility to ensure non-contamination of the land, air and water in close proximity to the plant.
