Zamil Steel Industries, a sector business of Zamil Industrial Investment Company “Zamil Industrial” and a global leader in the design and manufacture of pre-engineered buildings, structural steel products, transmission and telecom towers and process equipment, has demonstrated the advanced capabilities of its new steel plates rolling machine by performing a cold rolled bending of steel plates of 180mm thickness. This landmark event took place in response to increased demand for industrial processing equipment capable of producing high thickness steel for use in large industrial projects. The company owns and operates a state-of-the-art factory in Saudi Arabia with the ability to roll high thickness steel plates with the precision and high quality required by local and international customers.
This new technology has enabled the company to add a variety of new applications, has increased the capacity and expanded the range of products used by Zamil Steel and the Saudi Arabian steel industry overall. Since the machinery was unveiled in 2008, the monetary value of new orders and production has increased by $35 million dollars.
The machine has the capacity to cold roll steel plates up to 250mm thick, and has an interchangeable top roll to produce different roll diameters, as well as the capacity to roll section bars.
Speaking with regard to the increased demand for products created using the company's unique technology, Alan Gair, General Manager of Process Equipment Division, Zamil Steel, attributed the success of the technology to strong backing by Saudi industrialists, “The intelligent investment, high degree of foresight and planning, a genuine knowledge of global industrial parameters and the work needed for our regional industries to compete with worldwide leaders is greatly responsible for our achievements," he said. "Now, as the use of this technology flourishes and demand continues to grow, our efforts are validated and our company, customers and communities reap the benefits."
